What is a Cougar Woman?

I am sure that most of you already know this, from how often the term “cougar woman” is used in the media, but a cougar woman is a an older woman who actively pursues relationships with younger men. Sometimes these are full on serious relationships and other times just casual dating and hook ups.
If you have ever seen the film The Graduate you will understand where I am coming from. In this film Mrs Robinson seduces her friend’s son who is around half her age. Mrs Robinson, who is played by Anne Bancroft is a seductive and attractive woman. An older woman is often at her sexual peak and to men this can be very attractive and sexy. When middle-aged women reach a certain point in their life, many of them start to feel an underlying sense of renewal that makes them want to be adventurous and young-spirited once again.
Of course younger men often love the idea of a woman who is confident in herself and knows who she really is. Someone who is sexually experienced can teach a young man an awful lot!
As celebrities began to find their soul mates in the cougar/cub category, so the trend became more mainstream.
A cougar woman can be married and looking for an affair, or they could be single, divorced, it doesn’t really matter. If you are a mature woman who is actively seeking out younger men to date then you are a cougar. If you are a younger man seeking out an older, hot woman to date then you are a cub.

Mixed up: “The Graduate” and “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”?!
We did like your site. So, may we respectfully ask for a little
bit of editing concerning the inaccuracies about the movies.
The – not overly charming – “cougar” in “The Graduate” was
Anne Bancroft.
The picture on your site is obviously from “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”,
where character Paul “Fred” Varjak is in a relationship with an
older “matron” figure which is played by Patricia Neal
Thank you so much for your attention and best regards.
